Camp Best licensed professional counselor

Camp Best, M.Ed., LPC

Hi, I'm Camp! I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Oxford, Mississippi.

I have a deep appreciation for the role mindfulness, self-awareness, and compassionate support can play in healing and growth. I’ve been licensed since 2014 and bring years of experience working with young adults, students, and community members facing a wide range of emotional and life challenges.

My work is grounded in mindfulness-based approaches. I’m trained in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and certified as a KORU Mindfulness instructor for young adults, and have led weekly meditation sessions since 2018. I’ve presented to over 2,500 individuals on topics like stress management, emotional regulation, and mindful living, and I authored a chapter on mindfulness for The Ole Miss Experience textbook.

Before joining this practice, I spent nearly a decade at the University of Mississippi, where I served as a Staff Counselor, Academic Mentor, and Instructor. I also worked as a Student Advocate in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. Throughout these roles, I focused on helping students navigate transitions, manage stress, and build resilience — both inside and outside the classroom.

In addition to my clinical work, I’ve had the opportunity to serve in leadership and advocacy roles within the arts, neighborhood revitalization, and historic preservation communities, and I bring that same sense of care and commitment into the therapy space.

Whether you’re looking for tools to manage anxiety, needing support during a life transition, or interested in incorporating mindfulness into your mental health journey — I’d be honored to work with you.

At Kaizen Counseling, we believe growth happens through steady progress — small steps that build meaningful and lasting change.

how can I help?

Therapy Specialties

I work with individuals facing a range of common mental health and life challenges. Many of my clients come to therapy because they are experiencing:

Anxiety & Stress Management

I help clients identify patterns of worry and stress and develop practical strategies to cultivate calm, focus, and confidence. Mindfulness practices are a cornerstone of this work.

Depression & Low Mood

Therapy supports exploration of underlying emotional patterns and provides tools to reconnect with purpose, motivation, and emotional well-being.

Trauma Support

I provide a safe and structured environment to process past trauma, build coping skills, and regain a sense of safety and empowerment.

Mindfulness-Based Counseling

Trained in MBSR, MBCT, and KORU Mindfulness for young adults, I incorporate mindfulness exercises to improve self-awareness, emotional regulation, and stress management.

Neurodiverse & Autism Support

I work with adolescents and adults with autism, offering personalized strategies to navigate social, academic, and life challenges while leveraging individual strengths.

Life Transitions

Major life changes—career shifts, relationship changes, relocation, or entering new stages of life—can create uncertainty and stress. Therapy provides a space to process these changes and develop clarity about what comes next.
